Margit Übellacker, “leading exponent of the psaltery” (Sydney Morning Herald) has dedicated her work primarily to the revival of baroque and medieval repertoires for historical types of the dulcimer (pantaleon, salterio, dulcemelos). She was considerably influenced during studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (early music diploma), Linz and Munich.

 

She is a founding member of the ensembles LA GIOIA ARMONICA and Dulce Melos. With the ensemble L’Arpeggiata (dir. Christina Pluhar) she has worked in many years with soloists such as Philippe Jaroussky, Nuria Rial, Rolando Vilacón, Luciana Mancini, Marco Beasly, Mariana Flores, Lucilla Galleazzi, the King’s Singers and the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, on numerous concert tours and radio, television and DVD recordings.



As a member of the ensemble Shield of Harmony (dir. Crawford Young) she has played concerts with Andreas Scholl and has taken part in his CD recording Oswald von Wolkenstein (“Songs of myself”). She has also performed with Accademia Bizantina (dir. Ottavio Dantone), Kammerorchester Basel (dir. Riccardo Minasi), Mozarteum-Orchester Salzburg (dir. of Ton Koopman), Monteverdi Chor Hamburg (dir. Antonius Adamske), Ensemble Matheus (dir. Jean-Christophe Spinosi), Tiburtina Ensemble (dir. Barbora Kabàtkovà), Hathor Ensemble (dir. Romina Lischka with singers such as Dorothee Mields and Hana Blažíková), Les Passions de l’Âme (dir. Meret Lüthi), Musica Alta Ripa (dir. Bernward Lohr), Il Suonar Parlante (dir. Vittorio Ghielmi), Musica Fiorita, Coriandolo, Oni Wytars, L’Orfeo Barockorchester Linz, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Radio Orchestra Cologne and with soloists like Hana Blažíková (soprano), Klaus Mertens (Bass, Bass Bariton) and Maurice Steger (flute). Duo concerts with Crawford Young (lute) and Aline Zylberajch (fortepiano),

 

She has performed and recorded throughout Europe and in South America, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Russia and the USA (e.g. in Carnegie Hall).
